Microsoft has rolled out a critical update regarding the Microsoft Intune app for Android. As of recent changes taking effect, the minimum supported version of the Intune app for Android is now 2025.11.01.

Organizations relying on App Protection Policies (MAM) or managing Android devices need to be aware of this baseline enforcement to prevent access disruptions.

What is changing and why?

To support the latest Android APIs (including API 35 / Android 15) and ensure that data leakage mitigations function reliably, Microsoft is strictly enforcing minimum app version requirements.

If users attempt to access corporate resources on devices running older versions of the Microsoft Intune app, they may face sign-in failures or find that the Intune MAM service blocks the app from launching until they perform the update. This guarantees that security features and policies are applied correctly on modern operating systems.

Action Items for Intune Administrators

To avoid user disruption, we recommend the following immediate actions:

  1. Inventory and Triage: Navigate to your Intune admin center and check Apps > Monitor > Discovered apps. Search for the Microsoft Intune app to identify any devices running versions older than 2025.11.01.
  2. Communicate with End-Users: Proactively notify users to ensure they have automatic updates turned on in the Google Play Store, or provide them with direct instructions on how to manually update their Microsoft Intune app to the latest version.
  3. Configure Conditional Launch: You can leverage App Protection Policies by configuring the Min app version under conditional launch settings. This allows you to set up warnings or blocks for users running outdated versions, effectively prompting them to update before their access is forcefully disrupted.
  4. Update Custom Line-of-Business (LOB) Apps: If you have internal Android applications wrapped with the Intune App Wrapping Tool or using the Intune App SDK, ensure your developers are targeting the latest SDK versions (v11.0.0 or later) to maintain compatibility with these new runtime requirements.

By staying ahead of these minimum platform and app version enforcements, you ensure that your organization’s applications remain secure, compliant, and continuously accessible.
